Content

Reading Passage: “The Lost Puppy”

“Sarah was walking home from school when she heard a soft crying sound. She looked around and found a small brown puppy hiding under a bush. The puppy looked scared and hungry. Sarah gave it some water from her bottle and a biscuit from her bag. She took the puppy home and asked her mother if they could keep it. Her mother agreed, and they named the puppy Lucky.”

New Words

  • crying – making sad sounds
  • hiding – staying out of sight
  • scared – feeling afraid
  • hungry – needing food
  • biscuit – a type of cookie
  • agreed – said yes

Story Events

  1. Sarah heard crying
  2. She found a puppy
  3. She helped the puppy
  4. She took it home
  5. They kept the puppy

Dramatization Ideas

  • Act out finding the puppy
  • Show how Sarah helped
  • Pretend to ask mother for permission
  • Show happy ending with new pet
