Topic: Addition: Two 1-Digit Numbers (Sum ≤ 10)

What is Addition? Addition means putting numbers together to find the total. We use the + sign to add.

Simple Addition:

  • 2 + 3 = 5
  • 1 + 4 = 5
  • 3 + 2 = 5
  • 4 + 1 = 5

Exercise 10: Add these numbers:

  1. 2 + 1 = ___
  2. 3 + 3 = ___
  3. 1 + 5 = ___
  4. 4 + 2 = ___
  5. 0 + 7 = ___

Exercise 11: Complete the addition:

  1. 🍎🍎 + 🍎🍎🍎 = ___
  2. ⭐⭐⭐ + ⭐⭐ = ___
  3. 🏀🏀🏀🏀 + 🏀 = ___

5. ZERO PROPERTY

Zero Property: When you add 0 to any number, the answer is the same number.

  • 5 + 0 = 5
  • 0 + 3 = 3
  • 8 + 0 = 8

Exercise 12: Complete using zero property:

  1. 4 + 0 = ___
  2. 0 + 7 = ___
  3. 6 + 0 = ___
  4. 0 + 9 = ___
  5. 2 + 0 = ___

6. CONCEPT OF DOUBLES

What are Doubles? Doubles means adding the same number to itself.

  • 1 + 1 = 2
  • 2 + 2 = 4
  • 3 + 3 = 6
  • 4 + 4 = 8
  • 5 + 5 = 10

Exercise 13: Complete the doubles:

  1. 1 + 1 = ___
  2. 2 + 2 = ___
  3. 3 + 3 = ___
  4. 4 + 4 = ___
  5. 5 + 5 = ___

Exercise 14: Write the doubles:

  1. Double of 2 = ___
  2. Double of 4 = ___
  3. Double of 1 = ___
  4. Double of 5 = ___

7. COUNT FORWARD

Counting Forward: Start from any number and count up.

Exercise 15: Count forward from these numbers:

  1. From 23: ___, ___, ___, ___
  2. From 47: ___, ___, ___, ___
  3. From 35: ___, ___, ___, ___
  4. From 58: ___, ___

Exercise 16: What comes next?

  1. 34, 35, ___
  2. 52, 53, ___
  3. 19, 20, ___
  4. 46, 47, ___
