Topic: Percentages

In this unit, the learner is taught simple skills on:

  • Measuring and estimating different quantities such as length, weight, capacity and time
  • Using modern technologies in business and industries
  • It is also important that one should consider the environment and safety when dealing with measurement

Measuring and estimating is done using standard units of measurement adopted either at local or international levels for easy understanding by all people.

Content

Estimation is the economical assessment of the approximate number or balance if any, of the measured quantity. At the same time, estimation is the consideration of values which are most approximate to the real range the degree of its real appointed indices.

When you say measure, it means to use an instrument to find out how big or quantity. So Length, Width, Height, Size, capacity, weight, age, time, temperature, etc. are all quantities which can be measured. Measurement can be done in various units and there are instruments that can be used to measure them. Such instruments are ruler, meter stick, etc.

To make a percentage in Counting:

In order to find a percentage of countable objects, like for example: we can use countable as 30% Dividing the objects are 90 apples you can find 30% of the objects below:

  1. Divide percentage by 100 for example; 30÷100 so we can write it as 0.3

Answer:

  • 20
  • 10
  • 27

  1. Looking for objects out of the example: 13 / 100 = 13%

Looking for 20 objects out of 40 percentage out of example, but you can write it as: 50%

How we can calculate this percentage; number out function some of objects, then we can do it from 4 parts.

To read and understand the terminology of reading in our daily lives events:

Time is very important for people and for machines. Some people use the time as a measure for work.

Time is that process of human life that extends the number of occasions measured with a percentage of the occasions (today). And its function is very important, very generally, we cannot do without.

One can observe the length of time elapse by the use of measurement:

Seconds: It is the most accurate amount of measurement; the shortest of minute and hour.

Minutes: It is estimation of 60 seconds = 1 minute

Hours: It is approximately = 60 minutes = 1 hour, its calculation of time according to the estimate.

The difference is that one are coming out:

Days: We use it to measure the amount of days in a week, months or years. 1 day = 24 hours

Week: The word is established by keeping the evening from one regular other 1 day and weeks are for seven everyday life time.

Month: We use it to measure from one schedule for regular time = 30 days

Year: The word is established by stating the monthly time to the regular other 1,956 and more it is for twelve month schedule everyday life time.

Measuring

  1. Looking for percentage or capacity reading:

Measuring:

Capacity is the amount or quantity that can be measured reading from liters, milliliters or otherwise.

The capacity of a can equal to capacity the number of millimetres, which equals with 5 percentage of the capacity of a can which is equal to millimeters. The liters are the standard used for measuring capacity of the container it could be used to measure from the following capacity.

The can capacity liters in capacitive litres amount to centilitres

Example: to read liters of wine one has an amount by centilitres:

Weight:

Mass or heaviness is the determination what is the weight of an object for scientific and other requirements by the size.

Weight measurement can be approximated measuring. Outlined with standard weight in a defined level of weight. To be weighed out estimated the amount shall be = 1000 grams. For reference of the amount is its weighty for: 1 gram

In measurement with reference range it equippery with = 1000 milligrams. Through with = 1 kg = 1000 grams

The weighs of a pound is divided by 1 gram = 1 kilogram = 1000 grams.

The weighing device measures from different weight measurement like: ton = 1000 kilograms

In an establishment is the weighing from measuring to = 1000 grams = 1 kg

In the examples of how to calculate different weight by = like the approximate developed weight by an organization:

To read the device is generally the capacity to read = 1000 grams

Kilometers:

One kilometer is 1 km = 1000 = meters of 1000m.

1 meter = 100 centimeters = 100 cm

1 centimeter = 10 millimeters = 10 mm

We mostly use kilometers for measuring distance.

We use the meter for calculating height, for a very meter from. The meter is the standard.

Centimeters are used for smaller objects like measuring books, length of tables, etc.

And millimeters are used for very small objects.

Abbreviations:

km = kilometer m = meters
cm = centimeters mm = millimeters
