Topic: Counting Skill: Numbers 1-450 And 251-450

Learning Objectives

By the end of this week, pupils should be able to:

  • Count numbers 1-450 and specifically 251-450
  • Order and identify numbers from 1-450
  • Add two 2-digit numbers with sum not more than 100
  • Subtract 1-digit numbers from 2-digit numbers
  • Compare numbers using place value system
  • Arrange items using ordinal numbers
  • Identify fractions and shapes

 

Lesson Content

Day 1: Counting Skills (1-450)

Extended Number Range:

  • Review counting from 1-250 (first term work)
  • Practice counting from 251-450
  • Focus on smooth transition: 249, 250, 251, 252…
  • Emphasize numbers like 300, 350, 400, 450

Number Recognition:

  • Quick identification of random numbers
  • Reading numbers aloud clearly
  • Writing numbers neatly

Day 2: Ordering and Place Value

Ordering Numbers:

  • Arrange numbers from smallest to largest
  • Arrange numbers from largest to smallest
  • Find missing numbers in sequences

Place Value Review:

  • Hundreds, tens, units in 3-digit numbers
  • Compare numbers using place value
  • Examples: 245 > 239 (4 tens > 3 tens)

Day 3: Addition and Subtraction Review

Addition (2-digit numbers, sum ≤ 100):

  • Examples: 34 + 25 = 59, 42 + 37 = 79
  • No carrying/exchanging required
  • Real-life applications

Subtraction (1-digit from 2-digit):

  • Examples: 45 – 7 = 38, 63 – 8 = 55
  • No borrowing required
  • Word problems

Day 4: Ordinal Numbers, Fractions, and Shapes

Ordinal Numbers:

  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th… 20th
  • Position in line or sequence
  • Real-life examples

Fractions Review:

  • 1/2, 1/4, 3/4 of objects
  • Visual representations
  • Simple fraction problems

Basic Shapes:

Place Value Example:

Addition Example:

“Tom has 43 marbles, his friend gives him 26 more marbles. How many marbles does Tom have now?” 43 + 26 = 69 marbles

Ordinal Example:
