LESSON CONTENT
Introduction (5 minutes)
- Greet pupils with “As-salamu alaikum”

- Introduce today’s topic: Imam Malik – One of the Great Islamic Scholars
WHO WAS IMAM MALIK?
Full Name: Malik ibn Anas ibn Malik ibn Abi Amir
Title: Imam Malik or Imam Dar al-Hijra (The Imam of Madinah)
Birth: 711 CE (93 AH) in Madinah
Death: 795 CE (179 AH) in Madinah
Imam Malik was one of the four great founders of Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) and established the Maliki school of Islamic law.
LIFE HISTORY OF IMAM MALIK
Early Life
- Born in Madinah, the city of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
- Came from a scholarly family that valued Islamic knowledge
- His grandfather was among the great scholars of Madinah
- Started learning Islamic knowledge at a very young age
Education and Learning
- Studied under more than 300 teachers in Madinah
- Learned from companions of the Prophet’s companions (Tabi’un)
- Spent his entire life in Madinah, rarely traveling
- Devoted over 60 years to teaching and learning Islam
Teaching Career
- Became a teacher at the age of 17
- Taught in the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi)
- Students came from all over the Islamic world to learn from him
- Known for his strict standards in accepting and teaching Hadith
Later Life
- Remained in Madinah throughout his life
- Continued teaching until his death at age 84
- Was highly respected by rulers and common people alike
- Died peacefully in Madinah and was buried there
CONTRIBUTIONS OF IMAM MALIK TO ISLAM
1. Al-Muwatta (The Well-Trodden Path)
- Compiled one of the earliest and most authentic books of Hadith
