What Are Three Letter Words?
Three letter words are made by joining three Arabic letters together. Most Arabic words have three letters as their root.
Common Three Letter Words
- كَتَبَ (kataba) – “he wrote”
- Letters: ك + ت + ب
- With vowels: كَتَبَ
- Pronunciation: “ka-ta-ba”
- قَرَأَ (qara’a) – “he read”
- Letters: ق + ر + أ
- With vowels: قَرَأَ
- Pronunciation: “qa-ra-a”
- سَمِعَ (sami’a) – “he heard”
- Letters: س + م + ع
- With vowels: سَمِعَ
- Pronunciation: “sa-mi-‘a”
- نَزَلَ (nazala) – “he came down”
- Letters: ن + ز + ل
- With vowels: نَزَلَ
- Pronunciation: “na-za-la”
- حَمِدَ (hamida) – “he praised”

- With vowels: حَمِدَ

Using Different Vowel Signs
Same word with different vowels:
