Topic: Fara’id wa Sunnanu Salah
(Prayer: Obligatory and Prophetic Traditions Parts)
- A) Parts of Prayer
Fara’id (Obligatory Parts)
These parts MUST be done in every prayer:
- Takbiratul Ihram – Opening “Allahu Akbar”
- Standing (if you can)
- Reciting Fatihah – The opening chapter
- Ruku – Bowing down
- Standing after Ruku
- Sujud – Prostration (twice)
- Sitting between two Sujud
- Final sitting
- Tasleem – Saying “Assalamu alaikum”
Sunnah (Recommended Parts)
These are good to do but not required:
- Raising hands during Takbir
- Placing hands on chest
- Reading extra surahs after Fatihah
- Saying “Subhana rabbiyal azeem” in Ruku
- Saying “Subhana rabbiyal a’la” in Sujud
- B) Ways of Correcting Mistakes in Salah
Sujud As-Sahw (Prostration of Forgetfulness)
When to do it:
- If you forget a Sunnah part
- If you do something extra by mistake
- If you are not sure what you did
How to do it:
- Continue your prayer normally
- After final sitting, before Tasleem
- Do two extra prostrations
- Then say Tasleem to finish
Simple Rule: When you make a small mistake, do two extra prostrations at the end!
