Topic: Fara’id wa Sunnanu Salah

(Prayer: Obligatory and Prophetic Traditions Parts)

 

  1. A) Parts of Prayer

Fara’id (Obligatory Parts)

These parts MUST be done in every prayer:

  1. Takbiratul Ihram – Opening “Allahu Akbar”
  2. Standing (if you can)
  3. Reciting Fatihah – The opening chapter
  4. Ruku – Bowing down
  5. Standing after Ruku
  6. Sujud – Prostration (twice)
  7. Sitting between two Sujud
  8. Final sitting
  9. Tasleem – Saying “Assalamu alaikum”

Sunnah (Recommended Parts)

These are good to do but not required:

  1. Raising hands during Takbir
  2. Placing hands on chest
  3. Reading extra surahs after Fatihah
  4. Saying “Subhana rabbiyal azeem” in Ruku
  5. Saying “Subhana rabbiyal a’la” in Sujud

 

  1. B) Ways of Correcting Mistakes in Salah

Sujud As-Sahw (Prostration of Forgetfulness)

When to do it:

  • If you forget a Sunnah part
  • If you do something extra by mistake
  • If you are not sure what you did

How to do it:

  1. Continue your prayer normally
  2. After final sitting, before Tasleem
  3. Do two extra prostrations
  4. Then say Tasleem to finish

Simple Rule: When you make a small mistake, do two extra prostrations at the end!
