The four cardinal points
The four cardinal points are north, south, east, and west. These are the four primary directions on a compass, and they are used to describe the location of something relative to another point. North is at the top of a compass and is often associated with cold climates, while south is at the bottom of a compass and is often associated with warm climates. East is to the right of a compass and is often associated with the rising sun, while west is to the left of a compass and is often associated with the setting sun.
