Topic: Types of Computers
Learning Objectives: By the end of this lesson, pupils should be able to:
- explain Analogue, Digital and Hybrid computers
Lesson Content:
Types of Computers:
Analogue Computer:

- Works with continuous information (like a clock with hands)
- Measures things like temperature, speed, weight
- Examples: Thermometer, speedometer in cars, old weighing scale
- Shows results with needles or dials
- Not very common today
Digital Computer:

- Works with numbers and codes (0s and 1s)
- Most computers we see today are digital
- Examples: Desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones
- Shows results on screens with exact numbers
- Very fast and accurate
Hybrid Computer:

- Combines both analogue and digital features
- Uses the best of both types
- Examples: Some medical equipment, advanced car computers
- Can measure and calculate at the same time
- More expensive than other types
Differences:
- Analogue: Uses continuous signals, like water flowing
- Digital: Uses exact numbers, like counting coins
- Hybrid: Uses both methods together
Which is Most Common: Most computers we use (phones, school computers, tablets) are DIGITAL computers.
