What is a Play?

A play is when people act out a story on stage to teach or entertain others.

Our Three Important Themes

1. Honesty

Always telling the truth

• Don’t lie or cheat
• Admit when you make mistakes
• Be truthful even when it’s hard

2. Integrity

Doing the right thing even when nobody is watching

• Keep your promises
• Be the same person everywhere
• Stand up for what is right

3. Right Attitude to Work

Working hard and doing your best

• Don’t be lazy
• Finish what you start
• Take pride in your work

How to Create a Play

Step 1: Choose Your Story

Pick a simple story that shows one of the themes

Step 2: Create Characters

• Good character (shows the theme)
• Bad character (shows wrong behavior)
• Other characters (friends, family, teacher)

Step 3: Plan Your Scenes

• Beginning: Show the problem
• Middle: Show the choice between right and wrong
• End: Show what happens when you choose right

Step 4: Write Simple Dialogue

What each character will say

Step 5: Practice and Perform

Act out your play for others

Sample Play Ideas

Honesty Play: “The Broken Window”

• Child breaks window, must choose to lie or tell truth

Integrity Play: “The Found Money”

• Student finds money, must choose to keep or return it

Work Attitude Play: “The Lazy Student”

• Student must choose between playing and doing homework
