This Week’s Spelling Words:

  1. witness – person who sees something happen
  2. immediately – right away, without delay
  3. terrible – very bad or frightening
  4. investigation – finding out the truth about something
  5. emergency – sudden dangerous situation
  6. definitely – certainly, without doubt
  7. consequence – result of an action
  8. occurred – happened, took place
  9. apparently – it seems that, evidently
  10. particularly – especially, specifically

Practice these sentences for Friday’s dictation:

  1. The witness gave a detailed account of what occurred during the incident.

  3. The investigation revealed that the accident was particularly serious.
  4. Apparently, the terrible fire started from an electrical fault.
  5. The consequence of not following safety rules can be definitely dangerous.

Memory Tips:

  • immediately – has “immediate” + “ly”
  • terrible – ends in “ible” not “able”
  • occurred – double “r” before “ed”
  • definitely – “finite” is inside the word
