Introduction

Some words sound similar but have different meanings and spellings. It’s important to know the difference to use them correctly.

Content Development

Word 1: FEEL

  • Spelling: F-E-E-L
  • Meaning: To touch something or to have an emotion
  • Examples:
    1. I feel happy today.
    2. Feel how soft the cat’s fur is.
    3. The baby feels hungry.
    4. I feel the warm sun on my face.

Word 2: FILL

  • Spelling: F-I-L-L
  • Meaning: To put something into a container until it’s full
  • Examples:
    • Fill the cup with water.
    • Please fill the bucket with sand.
    • Fill in the missing letters.
    • The balloon will fill with air.

Comparison Between FEEL and FILL:

How to Remember the Difference:

FEEL (with EE):

  • Think of “SEE” – you feel with your eyes closed
  • Remember: “I feel with my hands”
  • Emotion words: happy, sad, angry

FILL (with I):

  • Think of “spILL” – when you fill too much, it spills
  • Remember: “Fill It up”
  • Container words: cup, bucket, bottle

Memory Tricks:

  1. FEEL has “EE” like “SEE” – you feel what you see
  2. FILL has “I” like “spILL” – fill it before it spills

Using FEEL in Sentences:

  • I feel the soft pillow.
  • How do you feel today?
  • Feel the smooth stone.
  • She feels excited about the trip.
  • Feel how cold the ice is.

Using FILL in Sentences:

  • Fill the jar with cookies.
  • Please fill my water bottle.
  • Fill in your name on the paper.

  • ❌ “I fill happy” → ✅ “I feel happy”
  • ❌ “Feel the cup with water” → ✅ “Fill the cup with water”
