WHAT HISTORY IS AND WHY WE TEACH HISTORY

History is the study of past events, societies, and individuals and the interpretation and analysis of those events. History is a subject that tells the story of events, wars and circumstances that took place in the past.

We teach history for several reasons:

1. History helps us understand how societies, cultures, and individuals have evolved, providing context for current events and trends.
2. By studying historical events and their consequences, we can learn from past mistakes and make better decisions in the present and future.
3. Analyzing historical sources and interpretations encourages critical thinking, evaluation of evidence, and forming well-reasoned arguments.
