SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Define conflict
  2. State and describe the types of conflict
  3. Name some causes of conflicts
  4. Discuss the consequences of conflict
  5. Describe some ways of resolving conflicts

NOTE 

Definition of Peace

Peace is the state of being calm and quiet. It is a state or quality of living in friendship with somebody without argument. It is a state in which one is not involved in causing argument or violence. It is freedom from war.

Peace is also the ability to unite with other people’s behaviour or better still to tolerate one another’s attitude without complaining

Peace education is a behaviour and attitude change mechanism which aims at performing the following function.

  1. Preventing conflicts
  2. Resolving conflicts
  3. Promoting conflicts

 WHY DO WE NEED PEACE

  1. For development of the society
  2. To promote of friendship
  3. For progress of the society

MECHANISM FOR PROMOTING PEACE

  1. Promotion of friendship
  2. Justice
  3. Good leader

EVALUATION:    

  1. Define conflict
  2. Name and describe the types of conflict
  3. Enumerate four causes of conflict
  4. Highlight four consequences of conflict
  5. Discuss the concept of conflict resolution
