Topic: Public Service In Democracy I
PUBLIC SERVICE
Public service is a service rendered by the government to the people living within its jurisdiction. They are responsible for the executions and implementation of government programmes and policies targeted towards a sector of society.
Some examples of public service in Nigeria include;
- Power Holding Company of Nigeria(PHCN)
- Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board(JAMB)
- Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC)
- Nigeria Deposit Insurance Company(NDIC)
- Nigerian Export Promotion Council
- National Open University of Nigeria(NOUN)
- Nigeria Customs Service(NCS)
- Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS)
- National Examination Council(NECO)
- Nigeria Television Authority(NTA) etc

 IMPORTANCE OF PUBLIC SERVICE
- it facilitates rural development
- it provides employment opportunities for many individuals
- It contributes to the national income
- it brings revenue to the government that can be used to sponsor projects
- it plays an important role in the development of infrastructure
- it contributes to export earnings
