Al-Hadithul-thalithu wal-ishirun

Anil-Harithibni Asiminil Ash’ary, radiyallahu anhu qala: Qala rasulullahi Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam: “Attuhuru Shatrul-Iman, wal-hamdu lillahi tamla’ul-mizan, wasubhanallahi walhamdulillahi tamla’ani aw tamla’u ma baynas-sama’I wal-ard. Wa-salatu nur, was-sadaqatul-burhan, was-sabru diya, wal-Qur’anu hujjatun laka aw alayk. Kullun Naasi yaghdu fa ba’I’un nafsahu fa mu tiquha aw mubiquha.” Rawahu Muslim.

TRANSLATION

On the authority of Harith bin Asim al-Ash’ary (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “purification is half of faith, saying ‘peace be upon him’ fills the seal, saying, Glory be to Allah and praise be to Allah (fills) the between the heavens and the earth, prayer is light, Sadaqah is proof (of sincere faith), endurance is shining glory, and the Quran is a proof for you or against you. All people go out early and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves.” Transmitted by Muslim-

COMMENTS

This tradition teaches that purification is half of faith because it is a pillar of worship for without purification there will be no acceptable worship and if there is no acceptable worship there would be no faith. Saying prayers is light because it guides to the right path because of the verses of the Qur’an which are read and which give peace of mind. Giving out poor dues is a sign of the strength of faith of the person who gives them out of his wealth. Patience is light because it gives strength to face whatever may befall a person until he achieves success. The glorious Qur’an is evidence for you if you carry out its teachings and it is evidence against you if you do not carry out its teachings.

TRANSLATION

On the authority of Abu Dharr (May Allah be pleased with him) who said: some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah said to the Prophet (peace be upon him):

“O Messenger of Allah, the rich people have gone with the rewards; they pray as we pray, they fast as we fast, and they give alms with what they do not need out of their wealth”.

The prophet said: “Has not Allah provided you with what you can give? In every ascription of glory to Allah, every declaration of His greatness, every utterance of praise to Him, every declaration that he is the only God, in enjoining what is reputable, in forbidding what is objectionable, and in a man’s sexual intercourse there is sadaqah.”

They said: “O Messenger of Allah, would a reward be given for satisfying one’s passion?”

He said: “Tell me; if he were to devote it to something forbidden, would it be a sin on his part? Similarly, if he were to devote it to something lawful, he would have a reward.”

 TRANSLATION

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Every bone of man’s fingers and toes must give sadaqah, every day the sun rises a man deals justly between two people it is sadaqah. If one helps a man with his beast, loading or lifting his goods on it, it is sadaqah.

A good word is sadaqah, every step one takes towards prayer is sadaqah, and one removing any injuries from the road is sadaqah.” Transmitted by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.
