Topic: Facilitators

Facilitators are marketing channels or channels of distribution that create time, place and possession utilities for consumer and business use.

Some examples of facilitators include finance companies, market research firms, insurance companies, public storage firms etc

Their roles are as follows:

  1. They assist in food processing e.g CRIN – Cocoa Research Institute of

Nigeria in Oyo state, IITA- International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IAR- Institute for Agricultural Research, NISER- Nigerian Institute for Social and Economic Research etc

  1. They offer loans and grants to farmers e.g. Banks of Agriculture(BOA), commercial banks (such as FCMB, GTBank etc), NACB-Nigerian Agricultural and Cooperative Bank etc.
  2. They provide mobility for transporting products and goods from one place to another.
  1. They give training on how to preserve perishable goods.
  1. They offer insurance services against fire outbreaks, etc.
  2. They offer business advice and prepare business blueprints (proposals, plans and feasibility studies) for new entrants into the business.
  1. They offer legal advice and counselling to business owners so 

they can operate legally and within the confines of the law.
