Topic: Basins And Boards

BASINS ORGANIZATIONS

Basins is a “dip” in the earth’s surface. They look like bowls. Basin organisations are formal or informal organizations responsible for the management of water resources at the basin scale.

The functions of basin organizations include:

  1. Collecting and managing data regarding water quantity and availability prevention of water pollution.
  2. Harmonizing state and non-state actors about water basins

resolving conflicts in the case of litigation with regards to water designing and constructing water facilities.

  1. Maintaining water infrastructure
  2. Operating water infrastructure in ways that ensure even distribution and navigation among different functions of water.

ROLES OF FACILITATORS IN BASIN ORGANIZATIONS

  1. They are the leading voice on basin-wide water issues.
  2. They keep basin constituencies and decision-makers in all sectors and at all levels in both the private and public sectors informed and involved.

BOARDS

A board of directors is an elected group of individuals that represent the shareholders of a company or an organization.

A marketing board is an organization created by many producers/ manufacturers to try to market their products thereby increasing their consumption.

ROLES OF FACILITATORS IN BOARDS

  1. They ensure that everyone has a chance to express their opinions, ideas and feelings.
  1. They accept every member as valuable in his or her own righ.  they believe in other people’s ability to discover their solutions to problems.
  1. They recognize individual strengths and efforts to change.
  1. They provide feedback that focuses on the individual, not the behaviour.
  1. They keep the discussion moving in a direction that produces a product without rushing the group.
