Importance and Benefit Of Youth Empowerment

1. Youth empowerment can help reduce the rate of poverty to a significant level.
2. It enhances good education standard
3. It enhances good governance
4. It helps to reduce the crime rate
5. Youth empowerment facilitates good leadership and entrepreneurship
6. It helps to facilitate the process of nation-building and development
7. Financially Independent.
8. It leads to self-employment and rapid industrialization
9. It gives or adds meaning to life, especially as one is given a position of authority
10. Youth empowerment is important to ensure the development of the community. It allows the transfer of skills and knowledge
11.  Promotes technological development. Creation of employment opportunities.

Roles Of Government In Providing Employment Opportunities For The Youths

1. Establishment of different agencies, ministries and parastatals for youth empowerment.
2. Incorporation of youth empowerment programs/activities into the school curriculum at all levels to make the youth self-reliant.
3. Awakening initiatives on youth empowerment through seminars, workshops, symposia, lectures, etc.
4. Provision of soft loans for youth for the establishment of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) or industries.
5. Provision of incentives to make agriculture attractive to the youths, eg, subsidies on agricultural inputs.
6. A collaboration of government with non-governmental organizations and other advocacy groups on youth empowerment.
7. Establishment of vocational schools.
8. Capacity building on entrepreneurial/vocational skills for youth empowerment.
9. Provision of automatic employment for graduates of Vocational/Entrepreneurial Programs.
10. Provision of free start-up capital/equipment to youth involved in empowerment skills/programmes schemes e.g. SURE-P, State-based youth empowerment schemes.
