 SURATUL JINN

Suratul Jinn is the 72nd chapter (surah) of the Holy Quran. It is a very special surah that talks about creatures called Jinn that we cannot see with our eyes. The surah tells us important things about these unseen beings and their relationship with Allah and Prophet Muhammad.

Who are the Jinn?

Jinn are special creatures created by Allah. They are different from humans and angels:

• They are made of fire
• They can think and choose between right and wrong

The Arabic Text of Suratul Jinn

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

قُلْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ اسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْآنًا عَجَبًا

The Story Behind the Surah

One night, a group of Jinn heard the Quran being recited by Prophet Muhammad. They listened carefully and were amazed by its beautiful words. They understood the message and believed in Allah and the Prophet.

Meaning of the Verses

First Verse: The Jinn Listen to the Quran

Arabic: قُلْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ اسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِّنَ الْجِنِّ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْآنًا عَجَبًا Translation: “Say, [O Muhammad], ‘It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, “Indeed, we have heard an amazing Quran”‘”

This verse tells us that:

• Some Jinn listened to the Quran
• They found the Quran wonderful and special
• They understood its message
