Topic: Oral: Falling Tone Statements
The falling tune is indicated with an arrow pointing in a downward direction (\). It is used to indicate when the pitch of the voice falls.
Its uses are:
- In statements: E.g:
- John works hard in school. \
- She got it right. \
- Giving commands. E.g:
- Leave the door open.\
- Close the door quickly \
- In exclamations: E.g:
- Oh, my Lord! \
- How awful! \
- In responding to yes or no questions: E.g:
- Are they here? Yes \
- Will they come? No \
- In asking wh questions: E.g:
- Why are you not happy? \
- What is your name? \
